BER   Survey  Process

What happens when you book a BER Assessment ?

As an SEAI Registered Ber Assessor I have to abide by the Assessor's Code of Practice.

The assessor will need access to every room of the property including the attic to properly assess your home.

A plan of every floor of the property is drawn up showing all windows doors etc. and anything relevant to  the survey. (see sample plan below )

A survey can take anywhere from an hour upwards depending on how complex the property is to measure.

On average , a three bed semi detached house generally takes approximately one hour thirty minutes.

Always ask the assessor on the phone before you engage his/her services , roughly how long the survey will take on site.

Be wary of an assessor taking 30 - 40 minutes as they may or may not be completing a thorough survey.

When all the details are taken including photographic evidence , the assessor will return to the office to spend a number of hours doing the relevant calculations and uploading these to the SEAI's software ( DEAP ) to generate your BER cert and Advisory report.
